About the tour

This trip to Ladakh is all about the beauty that sends people into trance when they laid eyes on it. The green valleys, snow-capped mountains, and azure blue sky just make this such a dream destination. You’ll spend your first day just relaxing and rest after a long journey here. We start with an excursion to Sham Valley and on the way, we’ll drive through the Magnetic Hill, famously known for pull car upward instead of down! Stop at the memoriam of Guru Nanak, Gurudwara Patthar Sahibp that’s located at 3,600m, guaranteeing an exquisite view. The Confluence of Zanskar and Indus Rivers is easily a place that you don’t want to leave because of its beauty with the Nimmu Valley in the background. Then to Spituk Gompa which is believed to be subsidiary of Sankar Gompa and is a historically important place as it was built in the 11th century. Then visit the Hall of Fame as we take a walk through the exhibits and stories that tell how the armies fought during the Indo-Pak wars. Out of the Sham Valley, we then move to Nubra Valley via the Khardung La highway, which is the highest drivable road in the world at 5,600m elevation, and visit Diskit Gompa on the way. Diskit Gompa is a 14th century Buddhist monastery that houses a Crowned Buddha, but it’s best known for being a temple located near the giant 33m Maitreya Buddha statue that was erected below the monastery. You’ll love the view of the valleys and Zanskar Range that can’t be replaced with anything else here. We’ll stay in Hunder Village while in Nubra Valley and make sure to visit the world’s highest saltwater lake, Pangong Lake or Pangong Tso. It’s a long ride, but one that’s worth the million-dollar view including the several small villages we’ll pass by. The Pangong Lake brags its deep blue water while surrounded by dry, arid land, a sight to behold. Then we’ll make our way back to Leh via Changla Pass, a famous roadway known formerly as part of the silk road, but even older than that, dinosaurs used to use the same pathway! We’ll visit the Shey Palace and Monastery on our way back that was built in 1655, then to Thiksey Monastery that’s known for the intimidatingly gorgeous architecture. Then visit the famous “3 Idiots” Rancho’s School before we’re back in Leh. Proceed on a local sightseeing here that starts with the Sankar Gompa and Village which is a sister monastery of Spituk Gompa that we visited before. Then see the symbol of peace that was built by the Japanese monk Gyomyo Nakamura, the Shanti Stupa, and end it with a majestic sunset view from Leh Palace.
